City & Guilds, the largest certification body worldwide, offers written and oral exams as two separate tests, allowing learners to prepare and sit for one or the other examination at any time. As part of its Free of charge campaign, City & Guilds now offers free resits for those candidates who have failed in one of the two exams, since exams  take place every two months.

For example, a student who is taking the written IESOL B2 and the oral ISESOL B2 exam in one of the 6 periods available during the academic year and only passes the written exam can now resit the spoken exam with no extra cost, in one of the next examination periods and within a year of the publication of the examination results.  

٭The offer is valid for candidates who have registered for two exams of the same level (oral and written) in one examination period in 2011 and 2012.
