The 21st century laboratory
The year 2010 finds the independent Research & Product Development Department, which employs more than 40 people, properly prepared for the future.
PEOPLECERT has developed the mechanisms and methodology required to conduct exams anywhere in the world from the headquarters in Greece, to produce automated tests in many languages, to issue certificates and to monitor from headquarters the integrity and the quality level at every stage of the examination procedure.
As part of this project, City & Guilds is the first body worldwide that will conduct fully automated English exams following the specifications of the Common European Framework.
Innovations for the Disabled
True to the basic principles of the ECDL Standard for equal access for all to the society of knowledge, we have completed the modification of the in-application Automated Test Evaluation System (inATES) and the software applications so that they correspond to the needs of individuals who are visually impaired.
The inATES has been approved by the Panhellenic Society for the Blind as completely appropriate for testing the blind and the visually impaired without the help of amanuenses.
The main features of the system, which follows the quality specifications of the ECDL Foundation, are:
• compatibility with the Super Nova screen reader software, necessary for the blind and the visually impaired when using a computer;
• the activation of command keys (enter, delete, ignore, termination) via the keyboard;
• the magnification of the exam questions in a side window.
